NEW Ministry - Cathedral Cares

New Parish Ministry - Cathedral Cares
We are introducing a new ministry for Cathedral parishioners - Cathedral Cares - and we're seeking volunteers with a heart of service. How can you help? First, if you like to prepare meals and would provide a meal to parishioners in need whether it is a family with a new baby or someone who is ill or recovering from surgery, we need you. Or would you like to assist in driving parishioners to mass? We have parishioners who cannot drive themselves and have no other way to get to church to worship with our parish community. No special skills are required, but all volunteers must complete Protecting Gods Children. There is no fee to recipients, and this is all volunteer driven. Call the Parish Office at 217.522.3342 for more information.

Lenten Regulations for Fasting and Abstinence

For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal.  The rule for fasting applies on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.  Abstinence from meat is required on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and the Fridays of Lent.

Ash Wednesday & Lenten Mass Times

Masses for Ash Wednesday, February 10th, will be celebrated at 7:00AM, 12:05PM and 5:15PM.

The normal Mass times remain in effect with the addition of a 12:05PM Mass Monday thru Friday from Ash Wednesday thru the Wednesday of Holy Week.

The daily schedule for the sacrament of Reconcilation remains the same.

Stations of the Cross will be prayed following the Friday evening Mass at 5:45PM each week of Lent.
